The 2nd seminar on improving the safety of maritime pilotage navigation in 2017
On March 17, 2017, the Vietnam Maritime Pilots Association held the 2nd Workshop on improving the safety of maritime pilotage operations in 2017 in Can Tho city, following the success from the 1st Workshop held in Can Tho city. held in Nha Trang city in October 2015.
Attending the workshop were 60 delegates who were the Association's UVBCH, the Supervisory Board, the Association's Treasurer, the Leadership Representative and the professional departments of the Association's member units.
According to the shipping lines provided, the ship's draft when entering the port is 12.55 m, quite comfortable compared to the current depth of about - 14 m of the Vung Tau - Thi Vai channel. However, the time when the Margrethe Maersk entered the channel was the time when there were many fishing vessels operating, so the authorities had to arrange a canoe to clear the channel to "clear the way" for the ship to enter the port. After sailing to buoy 5, the Margrethe Maersk continued to receive the support of the tugboat Sea Tiger.
At exactly 14 o'clock, the Margrethe Maersk sailed to pontoon 21. This is considered the most complicated turn on the channel, requiring the help of a tugboat. At this time, the weather is bad, the rain is getting heavier and heavier. However, with many years of experience in successfully leading mother ships to dock, Vungtauship's pilots have coordinated smoothly with tugboats, bringing the Margrethe Maersk super ship slowly into Cai Mep international port (CMIT).
At 14:30, the Margrethe Maersk ship safely docked at Cai Mep International Port (CMIT), becoming one of the important milestones of Vietnam's maritime industry, as well as of the Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port system. .
Before that, to prepare for the opening of the maritime route to Cai Mep - Thi Vai by mother ship, on February 20, 2017, the Margrethe Maersk ship of Maersk Line had an unloaded test trip to CMIT port. As planned, the Margrethe Maersk ship will leave the port on October 26, after handling about 2,600 containers.
